Just an observation
The Floridian media has gone crazy over Fay.
Yeah, it's a big deal. All tropical depressions, tropical storms, and hurricanes are.
Still, let's put this into perspective. Fay is a tropical storm, not a hurricane. Not even a class one hurricane, the weakest type of hurricane. It doesn't look likely Fay'll ever be a hurricane. Which means as nasty as it is, Fay's unlikely to match Andrew, Charlie, or Ivan. And it's certainly not going to be as terrible as Katrina.
I hope the local media remembers that.

Although, tracking storms from the moment they form off the coast of Africa is a bit excessive. Yes, we need to know a hurricane's coming. But that's just overkill when the storm's well over a week away.
And, for the record, Fay was formed in the Caribbean.
(And I like the newest fic bit!)

(It's an election and Olympic year. There has to be something else they could report on.)

If the first thing people think of when they think of Florida is hurricanes, they're not going to come here for vacation. And tourism is the state's largest industry.
