Yesterday, before we started out, we found out that the dog could sit on the AC unit very comfortably. Pictures will be put up later.

We arrived at Kill Devil Hills 1 pm. This was well before we could pick up the keys to the beach house, so we headed over to the National Seashore and visited Bodie Island. Because the National Seashore is a National Park, the dog is permitted there - with some restrictions. She is not allowed on any swimming/life-guarded beaches and she must be on a 6 foot leash at all times.

In other words, very mild restrictions upon her movement.

We visited the lighthouse and support structures at Bodie Island. The dog wasn't allowed to go in them, but she could - and did - walk the fields surrounding the lighthouse. She even met another dog, a Yorkshire Terrier named Coco, there.

Afterwords, it was time to pick up the keys and head to the beach house. It's 3 stories, has a pool and hot tub, three balconies, and four bedrooms. I'll post pictures when I get home.

We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant named La Fagata. The food was good and the ambiance wonderful, but the service was slow.

After everyone was settled in, all eight of us, sans dog, went to an expensive and delicious restaurant named "Owens Restaurant." I had a seafood platter, but I couldn't finish it all.
