Part 1 - Major Resorts: Universal Orlando and Sea World
Universal Orlando
Universal Orlando is composed of two parks, a large shopping area, and at least one hotel. It has attractions to serve a wide variety of interests and ages.
Theme Parks
Universal Studios: Possessing a nice mix of rides and shows/stationary attractions, this park offers something for movie lovers of all ages. The attractions include classics - E.T., Jaws - stationary - Twister, Shrek - newer - MIB, Simpsons - and thrilling - the Mummy, Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket Roller Coaster. This is a good park for people who love movies and don't particularly care for thrill rides.
Islands of Adventure: This park has several themed islands: Port of Entry, Marvel Superhero Island, Cartoon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Suess Landing. Each island has its own rides, shopping, and a few shows as well. Islands boasts the most most roller coasters and thrill rides in the Universal Orlando complex. If you like roller coasters or want to visit Hogwarts, this is the park for you.
Shopping
CityWalk: This triangular shaped shopping area connects Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and the Universal parking garages to each other. It has an eclectic mix of shops - one of shops near the parking garages/entrance sells magnets - and themed restaurants - Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, a NASCAR restaurant. Since you have to go through CityWalk to reach either park, I suggest taking a moment to wander through the shops.
Sea World
Sea World is composed of a theme park and a water park. Its attractions are geared towards families and good for people of all ages. There's also Discovery Cove, but I'm not really sure where that is located.
Theme Park
Sea World: Sea World is a mixture of "aquarium", "zoo," and theme park. It has several shows and exhibits featuring animals ranging from Killer Whales to Polar Bears and Penguins and sharks. There are two roller coasters and one "boat coaster" for thrill rides. I'd recommend this park for families with kids interested in sea life or for future Marine Biologists.
Water Park
Aquatica: I've never been to Aquatica, though I want to visit it. The concept - take a typical water park and add an aquarium built around the rides - sounds amazing. Aquatica is located across the street from Sea World. I'll recommend this park for people who want a new twist on the standard water park fare.
