Botcon Attendee's Guide to Florida: Part 2
Part 2 - Theme Parks, Themed Attractions, Water Parks
Wet and Wild: Wet and Wild bills itself as "Orlando's most extreme water park." Based on the number of intense waterslides in this park, it's a fair claim. The majority of the park's attractions are thrill ride style slides - some requiring inner-tubes and some don't. There's also a section for kids to play and another area for adults to lie in the sun. Overall, this water park is best for strong swimmers who like waterslides.
Gatorland: Ever want to see an American Alligator up close and personal? How about watching how a 'gator eats? If the answers to these question is "yes", check out Gatorland. This attraction has hundreds of living 'gators. There's demonstrations of how high alligators can jump, 'gator wresting, a reptile exhibit, and even a petting zoo. (The petting zoo has goats and other herbivores, not 'gators.) There's a restaurant and a gift shop in the attraction as well.
Kennedy Space Center: Kennedy Space Center features an amazing collection of things dealing with space, space exploration and space travel. Check out the astronaut hall of fame, the full scale rockets, and the IMAX movies about NASA and outer space. The gift shop has items ranging from books and models to freeze-dried food and t-shirts.
Busch Gardens: First off, Busch Gardens is in Tampa. That's about a 2 hour drive from Orlando. If you do decide to go, there's plenty of attractions to see and do - including a nice mixture of roller coasters. Busch Gardens also has some areas where you can view animals, including the ride Rhino Rally. This park is probably best for roller coaster fans who don't mind a longer drive.
